John C. Dean II A key member to Sick Sideways Racing’s success, John Dean’s natural speed, mechanical knowledge, years spent as a test driver, and his more than a decade of involvement and experience as a Skip Barber Racing School instructor, gives him a skill set few can match. John put this skill set to use in 2012, making his Pro debut in style; taking victory at the first racing venue in Sebring. From there he went on to win at Mazda Laguna Seca, San Diego, & Mosport International; grabbing several podiums, pole positions, and setting the all-time series lap records at both Mosport & Road America in the process. John was the points leader in the championship at different times, fighting all the way down to the last race. He finished in a strong 3rd place in the points, with the distinct honor of being the winningest driver of 2012. John Dean II captured the Battery Tender Mazda MX5 Cup Championship Title in 2015.
Nathanial Sparks was born in Birmingham, Alabama, but now calls Sebring, Florida, home. He is a dedicated racing car driver and an avid sportsman. Motorsports attracted him at an early age. This soon became a passion after he drove his father’s sports car for the first time. He completed his first HPDE (High-Performance Drivers Education) at age 16. Then he became hooked on the sport of racing. Starting in the Spec Miata series, he learned the ropes and gained experience. Also, his accomplishments include 3 time champion of the East Coast Teen Mazda Challenge. Additionally, he won the 2011 NASA National Spec Miata Championship. After winning the NASA Nationals, Nathanial and his father built an MX-5 Cup car to compete in the 2012 season.

Sick Sideways added him to the team shortly after the race in Canada. He has settled in easily with the team and is looking forward to another great MX-5 Cup season. Nathanial Sparks captured the Battery Tender Mazda MX5 Cup Championship Title in 2016.
